Yakimix Macapagal

October marks Papa Leo’s birthday – and because of that, the Familia Nunag had another chance to have a foodie blast.   We celebrated Papa Leo’s birthday at Yakimix Macapagal branch.

A lot of you is very familiar with Yakimix since it is famous for being a smokeless grill restaurant.  They have a lot of branches but we decided to try the one at Hobbies, Macapagal because they have an on-going promotion that would last until the end of October. 

Since this branch of Yakimix is I think the least popular of all because of the location, we were able to book a group of 7 people just a day before we actually dined in.  The location of Hobbies Macapagal is not difficult to find though.  If you are familiar with Seaside Macapagal, that the same location of Yakimix Macapagal.

We arrived just in time for the grace period for reservation.  We were seated ASAP.  The area is not so big, but is really comfortable.

There is just one flaw when we were there.  The grill in our table was malfunctioning.  When everyone was enjoying their meals, we were just trying to light up our grill.  The restaurant staff tried fixing our grill for 5 times before it actually worked.  We were already losing our patience because we kept on asking for staff to fix the grill.  They offered to transfer us seat (after the 5^th time they “tried” to fix the grill).

Good thing that aside from grilling, there are cooked foods we can eat while we check if the fire is still burning in our grill.  With a nice ambiance, courteous staffs, and delicious foods, sans the faulty grill, Yakimix Macapagal is a place we would love to go back again.

And we don't want the faulty grill (or lpg or starter or whichever fault is that) dampen our spirits.  We still had a good time, we ate a lot, we catch-up with stories, and we laughed so much.  Family bonding is best done with good food and good talk J

A Fun Family Day at Nuvali

Nuvali is a big place.  We’ve been here quite a few times already but have not really appreciated the place because all we do is eat as a family and then go home.  But one fine Saturday, we were able to visit this place without rushing. 

We initially went to Paseo Sta. Rosa, a shopping district just 5 minute drive from Nuvali because we entered Sta Rosa from SLEX, and this area comes first.  We roamed around but we didn’t stay long.  If you are planning to go shopping for branded items, Paseo is a good place for you.  It has a lot of outlet stores of branded apparels, and most of them (some 70% of the goods) are on sale.

After a quick tour at Paseo, we went directly to Nuvali. 

We went to feed the Koi fishes.  Neo had so much fun doing this.  The fish feeds are available at a small kiosk costing Php15.oo per pack. 

Can you see all those orange things in the pond?  That’s all Koi fishes!  And its just one part of Nuvali.  It’s an invasion! Kaloka.   And they’re all hungry. 

Then we walk and roam around the area.  You can ride a boat (not sure for how much), which will tour you on a small man-made lake.  Or ride a bike.  We wanted to try this with Neo, but I don’t think they offer small bikes for kids as rental.

We just contented ourselves in sitting in the small park-like area along the man-made lake.  It was so refreshing.  But you need to bring your picnic mat or blanket.  The grass gets itchy at some point.

Then we went to Solenad 3 looking for the Kidzoona, Nuvali.  We want Neo to try it but during our quest for Kidzoona, the little boy got distracted by this playground.  It sits in the middle of the newly opened Ayala Mall and it's rubberized (just like Middle Road Children’s Playground in HongKong).  So Nice.

Mama and Papa just sat in one of the benches while Neo had so much fun playing with other kids.  This boy is really sociable.  It was a really fun family day, and we’d love to go back at Nuvali again, just bumming around.

PS:  We were able to locate Kidzoona and was astounded that the line for this play area is too long.  Apparently it is so famous for kids and kids-at-heart. 

Neo Invades Art in Island

One of the activities Neo and I did during the Jolly Cow Mommy and Kid’s Day Out was visiting Art In Island.  Art in Island is a two-story building located in Araneta, Cubao featuring 3D art.

Upon entrance, you will be asked to remove your shoes.  There is a shoe counter where you can deposit and leave you shoe.  We were advised to bring socks but you can roam around without one.

Art in Island is a place any photography enthusiast will love.  The whole place has nothing but art - 3D art to be exact.  I think this place has more than 50 different 3D arts you can pose around for pictures.

This place is a good bonding place for the family.  Kids and kids-at-heart will have fun posing and goofing around different 3D arts.  Though I think, and would suggest, you bring kids 6 years and up so they can really appreciate the place.   Neo loved the place, but there are arts that scare him.  So the pictures of him are on arts he likes only.

Art in Island is open Tuesday to Sundays from 930AM to 930PM.  Admission Fee is Php5oo for Adults and Php4oo for Students.  They have birthday promos as well.  And if you want to go back, you can keep your tickets to get 50% discount when you return.
