Familia Nunag @ Cebu – Ten Places to Visit

After my work, we decided to give Cebu a tour.  This is not my first time touring Cebu and I’ve been to most of the places we went to.  But since this is Leo and Neo’s first time, I indulge in going back – after all, there are a lot of changes since the last time I’ve been there.

Magellan’s Cross.  This is the cross that Magellan brought in the Philippines.  He struck it in the beach shore.  Now it has its own shrine because the area is now reclaimed.  Folklore says the cross is growing in height.  I don’t know if this is true because I think it’s the same height since 5 years ago.

Sto Nino Parish.  A minute walk from Magellan’s Cross is the Sto Nino Parish.  This is a very grand parish.  It host around 6-8 masses in a day.  Paintings are all-over the place.  Last year, when Cebu and Bohol was struck with an earthquake, the bell fell from the tower.  Construction is on-going to have it rehabilitated.

Tabo-an Market.  This is not a tourist spot but a lot of tourists go to this area.  Why?  This is where they sell pasalubongs.  Dried fishes of different shapes and sizes, dried mango, otap, and chorizo are sold in this place.

Philippine Taoist Temple.  This is located at Beverly Hills Subdivision at Cebu City.  The villagers are mostly Chinese.  Here, you are allowed to take pictures of everything (scenery and structures), but the temple and saints are off limits to cameras.

Chapel of San Pedro Calungsod.  This very beautiful chapel is dedicated to the newest Filipino saint, San Pedro Calungsod.  This Chapel is located at SM Seaside City (still under construction and the would-be biggest mall in the Philippines, even bigger than SM Mall of Asia).  It is very grand and is composed of 100 walls.

Shrine of Lapu-Lapu.   If you’re at Mactan, you have to visit the shrine of the first Filipino hero, Lapu lapu.  The shrine is like a park with no frills whatsoever.  You can relax at the area.

Ayala Mall and SM City Cebu.  I love going to malls.  It’s so relaxing.  There are a lot of malls naman here at Manila but I just love to see what they sell in the malls of Cebu.

Trying to amuse himself at the Family Lounge of Ayala Cebu.  Can he get any cuter?

Waterfront Hotel and Casino.  Casino Filipino’s biggest branch at Cebu is in here.  The façade of this place looks like a Disneyland Castle.  It has a Duty Free (which I was able to buy something really cheap for myself *sariling kapakanan*).

Crown Regency’s Sky Adventure.  We stayed at Crown Regency Hotel the whole time we were at Cebu so I will dedicate a post for this.  Their Sky Adventure is a must-try.

Mactan Resorts.  I already gave you some sneak peak of three Mactan Resorts and there are more to choose from – and it’s a must that you visit one of them.  The beaches may be man-made but its beautifully made indeed.

The first seven these tourists’ spots we went to are free of charge.  You’ll just have to pay for your fare. J

  6. Thank you so much for this. I've been to Cebu once and stayed there for a week when I performed with a band at Ratsky's. Is that bar still there? Anyway, I was only able to go to a couple of places because I was always too tired to go around. It's one fo the places my eldest wants to visit and I have no idea where to take him, haha. So it's good you posted. :)
